I've spent two years in prison relaying stories sent by letters to a blogger about my crimes, arrests, and life in four Florida prisons, the Pinellas County Jail, juvenile detention and drug rehab. I'm sending a message to others not to make the same mistakes I did.

You will be missed

Today a friend of mine here in my pod got sentenced to 25 years in prison.

I wanted to write this blog entry for him.

There are some of us that are good people at heart, but who've just made really bad choices.

In my friend's case, he was the most caring, kind, and easiest person to be around, but he just made one bad mistake that he will have to live with for the rest of his life.

Most of us are lucky if we make a poor choice. We get probation or a little bit of jail time, or at the most, a couple years in prison.

My heart goes out to those that may never be released from prison because of a mistake.

Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of people who deserve to be locked away forever, but not my friend.

I hope that in prison, even though it will be extremely improbable, if not impossible, he will better himself and not become someone who believes he is destined to be in prison forever.

Friend, my heart goes out to your loved ones. I know they care about you very much. Even though you can't be with them, you are always in their thoughts - and mine too.

  1. Yes, my heart goes out to people that make that "one" bad mistake and end up in prison for most or the rest of their lives. However, my question is to you. What one earth are you doing? I hope this is the last round trip you make to jail or prison young man. You can see the mistakes of others and feel for them. How about you start doing the same for yourself for a change? Clean up your act and get out here and save others with this beautiful blog you have created.
