I've spent two years in prison relaying stories sent by letters to a blogger about my crimes, arrests, and life in four Florida prisons, the Pinellas County Jail, juvenile detention and drug rehab. I'm sending a message to others not to make the same mistakes I did.

Medical care in jail

I'm not an expert on medical care by any means, but to me, in jail the medical care sucks.

One thing I've noticed so far is that no matter what is wrong with you, the only thing they'll give you is Motrin.

"What's wrong with you? Oh...you're foot's broken...here - have some Motrin."

"You have the flu? Here's some Motrin."

"You were playing basketball and you slipped, fell and now you're paralyzed? Well, here's some Motrin."

Now, I'm not complaining. I understand that there are people with drug problems and they would take advantage of anything else [given to them].

This is not the reason I believe the medical care here sucks. The reason is because there was a man in my room a couple of months ago and he went to get a tooth pulled. When the dentist here pulled his tooth, he slipped - not once, but twice - and both times he cut the roof of his mouth. He had to get 11 stitches in addition to the ones for his tooth. (I bet you can't guess what he got for pain...that's right...Motrin.)

For that reason I won't go and get my remaining [3] wisdom teeth pulled even though they are really starting to hurt.
