I've spent two years in prison relaying stories sent by letters to a blogger about my crimes, arrests, and life in four Florida prisons, the Pinellas County Jail, juvenile detention and drug rehab. I'm sending a message to others not to make the same mistakes I did.

Swine flu in the Pinellas County Jail

Last Wednesday (July 29), a guard wearing a mask took an inmate out of our pod. The inmate had flu symptoms, but he was returned to our pod an hour later.

All week long, the guards told us that although there were suspected cases of the swine flu at the jail, no one in the Central building had it.

Two or three days ago, we found out on the news on the EspaƱol channel that the whole 2nd floor of the Central building had been under quarantine. (I'm on the 4th floor.)

Nice way to find this out.

The Tampa Tribune reported on Thursday (July 30) that seven inmates had tested positive for the swine flu. The Trib stated that nine jail pods were quarantined, affecting 320 male and female inmates.

All I know
is that all the guards on our floor are wearing blue masks.
